  4. elastic pear-shaped bag, lying crosswise in
  5. the abdominal cavity, beneath the diaphragm.
  6. Food enters the stomach through a ring of 
  7. muscles known as the cardiac sphincter, and
  8. is converted into a semiliquid state by 
  9. muscular action and by the digestive enzymes
  10. in the gastric juice secreted by the glands.
